How Matching Actually Works
Matching antique brick is a question of four things: size, colour range, texture, and mortar. Get those right and a new wing disappears into the original house. We start from your material, not from a catalogue.
Most matches come out of our four house blends. When they don't, we go looking through the salvage network under our custom sourcing service.
How it works
Send what you have
A clear photograph in daylight is usually enough. A loose brick is better. Either way, include a tape or a coin in the shot so we can read the size.
We pull candidates
We work from your material, not a catalogue, comparing size, colour range, texture, and how the existing mortar reads against it.
Physical samples ship
Candidates go out to you so you can hold them against the actual wall in actual daylight. Brick colour lies in photographs.
Quantity confirmed and reserved
Once you pick, we confirm the quantity is genuinely there, reserve it, and give you a firm dispatch date.

Mortar guidance included
Half of a successful match is the mortar. We tell you what colour and what mix to aim for, because the right brick in the wrong mortar still looks like an addition.
Reserved stock
Matched material is held for your project rather than sold out from under you while the drawings are finished.
Repair quantities welcome
A few hundred brick to close up an opening is normal work. You do not need a whole-house order to be worth our time.
Period-correct sizing
Antique brick is not modern modular size. Matching the dimension matters as much as the colour — a correct colour at the wrong size still reads wrong on a wall.

What if you cannot match it?
We tell you straight away rather than selling you the nearest thing. If nothing in the four house blends works, the next step is custom sourcing — we go out to the salvage network and see what is genuinely findable, and on what timeline.
How long does matching take?
Usually the same week. We pull candidates from stock, and physical samples normally ship within two business days once we have your photograph or brick.
Do you charge for matching?
Matching is part of how we sell material, not a separate line item, and standard samples are free to the trade. If a match turns into a genuine sourcing hunt across the salvage network, we will talk through what that involves before anyone commits.
