Brick Indoors, Detailed Properly
Interior brick lives or dies on two details: thickness and sealing. Thin-cut brick keeps door swings, thresholds, and cabinet heights intact in a renovation. A breathable penetrating sealer keeps a kitchen floor wipeable without trapping moisture or leaving a plastic sheen.
Floors, backsplashes, and walls all come out of the same blends, so a brick floor can run under a brick range wall without a visible change in material.

Thin-cut for renovations
At ½" to ⅞" plus thinset, veneer and floor tile add very little height — which is what makes them work where thresholds and cabinet heights are already fixed.
Kitchen-appropriate sealing
A penetrating, breathable sealer rather than a surface film, with written sealing guidance supplied with the order.
Warm over radiant heat
Fired clay holds heat and gives it back slowly, which makes brick one of the better finishes over a radiant floor.
Matched floor and wall
Floor tile and wall veneer cut from the same blends, so a brick floor can run up to a brick wall and read as one material.

Questions we get asked
Is a brick floor practical in a kitchen?
Very. It is warm underfoot, effectively impossible to wear out, and it handles dogs, wet boots, and dropped cast iron better than almost anything else. Seal it with a penetrating breathable sealer and refresh that periodically. The one honest downside is that it is hard underfoot if you stand and cook for hours — a mat at the sink solves it.
Brick behind a range?
Yes, and it is one of the best uses for it. Use thin brick over a suitable substrate, seal it so grease wipes off rather than soaking in, and keep to the clearances your range requires. A slightly recessed joint looks right but a flush joint is easier to keep clean — worth deciding deliberately.
Will it feel too rustic in a modern room?
That is down to the blend and the joint, not the material. New Orleans Hard Tans with a tight, quiet joint read calm and contemporary; Old Chicagos with a raked joint read farmhouse. Ask for a sample board of two or three blends and hold them in the actual room — it settles this question in about a minute.
